Wild Game Feed
During the spring migration, tens of thousand of snow geese visit Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area of Area, between Choteau and Fairfield, 406-467-2646 Google Map It!
An added addition to the high peak birding weekend, The Old Trail Museum’s Wild Game Feed is scheduled for March 28th from 5:30pm to 9pm. The event is held at the Stage Stop Inn. This event includes a no host bar, potluck, silent auction and live auction. The potluck features wild game prepared by some participants but is not limited to just wild game. Please come and enjoy a wonderful evening. All proceeds from this event go to the maintenance and upkeep of the museum. Old Trail Museum

All you have to do is hike…
Have you dreamed of hiking Montana without the burden of a heavy pack? Dropstone Outfitting is the only outfitter in the 1.5 million acre Bob Marshall Wilderness that caters specifically to guided backcountry foot travel. We offer stock supported hiking trips where all you carry is a small day pack as you explore the peaks and valleys of the Bob Marshall. PitchFork Steak Fry
Choteau has been serving up the Pitchfork Steak Fry for a century! At the City Park Pavilion every 4th of July, the Choteau Chamber of Commerce volunteers put out a great western style meal. A tender steak in speared on a “clean” pitchfork and fondued in a pot of vegetable oil. They add the famous “Log Cabin” coleslaw, fried potatoes, western style beans and a brownie for dessert! Beverages are included and you do have a choice of a very large hot dog instead of a steak. Steak Dinner $15 or Hot Dog Dinner $8
Come see the awesome beauty of Ear Mountain and Our Lake. Hike the national forests or go deeper into the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex on a guided horse or backpacking trip. Experience the abundant bird life on Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area during the spring migration when tens of thousand of snow geese visit.
Are you a snowboarder or skier? Then come and enjoy our local ski resort, Teton Pass Ski Resort, located within an hour of Choteau. Top elevation is 7400 feet and offers 25 downhill runs, cross-country trails as well as snowmobile trails. They have a awesome lodge with lunch from the Lazy Moose restaurant and Waldron Creek bar is open till 4 p.m.
